Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Electrical BIM Coordinator/Engineer to lead the BIM coordination and assist in the engineering and design development of complex electrical construction projects. This position is responsible for transforming design requirements into accurate, coordinated, and constructible electrical models and drawings that support successful field installation.

The ideal candidate combines advanced Revit expertise with a strong foundational knowledge of electrical engineering, construction practices, and project delivery. Working directly alongside the Chief Engineer, Project Managers, Field Personnel, and External Consultants, this individual will facilitate cross-functional coordination from initial design through project closeout.

Essential Responsibilities:

Electrical Design and Engineering:

Lead the coordination effort and assist in the development of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and critical-infrastructure projects.
Evaluate and interpret requirements from contract drawings and specifications.
Understand and apply electrical and life-safety codes while maintaining client standards.
Develop, coordinate and maintain detailed Revit models and construction drawings for power, lighting, electrical equipment layouts, low voltage, communications, fire alarm and other electrical systems.
Perform electrical engineering calculations including voltage drop, point load calculations, ampacity adjustment and arc-flash assessments.
Verify that engineering documents are technically sound, fully coordinated, field buildable, and aligned with contract requirements.

BIM Coordination and Project Management:

Lead the electrical BIM coordination using Navisworks to ensure proper integration with the architect, structural engineer, construction trades including (mechanical, plumbing and fire alarm), and specialty consultants.
Attend coordination meetings to resolve clashes and develop practical solutions that maintain design intent while supporting efficient field installation.
Coordinate electrical equipment locations, distribution pathways, access requirements, working clearances, and interfaces with other building systems.
Maintain model accuracy, file organization, drawing standards, and coordination requirements.
Collaborate with Project Managers to support project schedules, budgets, design milestones, and deliverable dates.
Assist with the review and preparation of submittals, requests for information, change-order documentation, and design revisions.

Project Delivery and Construction Support:

Oversee and manage the integration of BIM models with engineering deliverables from initial concept through construction and project closeout.
Work directly with field personnel to resolve installation issues and incorporate approved field changes into project models and drawings.
Attend site walkthroughs to verify field conditions and ensure adherence to shop drawings and project documents.

Leadership and Process Improvement:

Review work prepared by other team members for accuracy, consistency, coordination, and constructability.
Provide technical Revit/BIM leadership and day-to-day guidance to junior engineers and BIM designers.
Train and mentor staff in Revit workflows, model management, electrical design practices, and BIM coordination procedures.
Help establish and maintain engineering, drafting, and BIM quality-control standards.

Qualifications:

At least five (5) years of experience working as an electrical engineer within the construction industry.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is highly preferred.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents with a strong understanding of electrical system requirements.
Thorough working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NFPA standards, and other applicable electrical codes.
Proven experience and advanced skills in Autodesk Revit, (electrical modeling, model management, multidisciplinary coordination) plus Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Forma (formerly ACC), Bluebeam, Procore and Microsoft Office Products.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and identify conflicts effectively and clearly with clients, design professionals, project managers, field personnel, and other trades to develop practical, constructible solutions.
Ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines with strong attention to detail, project management, leadership, communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
